Shouts to my dude Xavier for this gem title "CT HIP-HOP..."
...WILL NEVER PREVAIL!
ever since i left CT, i realized 2 things: I LOVE connecticut... and i HATE the state of connecticut musically
with CT being right in between to major cities (NY & BOS) its hard for what they do to NOT rub off on us, music, fashion, trends, everything and i understand that..... but we dont even try! but now i understand why..... cuz YOU wont let us... Musically, the ppl of CT are only brave enough to roll wit something that is proven or "mainstream." Its like they need to be TOLD wats hot... and the radio, and BET and anyother media outlet is doing a fantastic job of telling them...
every and any where you go... they have their own thing... music from Baltimore sounds like Baltimore music.... which is different from music in Chicago... and thats different from music in LA.... but wat does Connecticut Hip Hop sound like?? how is it different from anywhere else....ITS NOT... and heres why....
CT does NOT support its local artist because they arent mainstream, and the only way they can become mainstream is if they have they're local support which they dont because they're not mainstream and its a endless loop...
see, in the music industry... if an artist goes to a major label with music and the label thinks its good... the 1st thing they do is call someone they know from where ever that artist is from and ask..."wats the deal with MC Such-n-such?" ....because its all about money to them and if u cant even get support where your from, how can they expect u to blow nationally, regardless of the quality of ur music....
When i was in Chicago, i would go to local sneaker stores and what-not, and all they bumped were Chicago Emcees.... and not Kanye, Common and Lupe.... im talkin, Consequence, Bump J, GLC, Rhymefest, Kids in the Hall, Kid Sister....and when they did play Kanye, it was his early, pre-roc-a-fella stuff... that would NEVER happen in CT...
WE NEED TO CHANGE... now granted, i know their are alot of local artist who are straight GARBAGE, trust me, ive met them... but theyre are still a lot of great local artist, cuz ive met some of them too... all im asking is....
ARTIST: be yourself, try something different.... if ur not from NY or ATL... dnt act like it... &
FANS: give artists a shot... im not asking you to buy their mixtapes or nuthin, but if u see someone doin their thing.... lend them an ear and if they suck, then they suck... but atleast give them a fighting chance.... and understand... our town boarders should limit us... if i made music, because of the fact that i live in WINDSOR, i cant rock in BLOOMFIELD??? cummon... i live closer to bloomfield then some ppl who "live in bloomfield" lol...
Example...: Gucci Mane is HOT GARBAGE... thats unarguable.... but hes from Atlanta and hes doin his thing... and because of that, he can go anywhere in Georgia and shut shit down... point blank... cuz he shows his city love....THEY SHOW IT BACK....
Lets work together... lets support each other... lets DO OUR OWN THING....
And i BEG OF YOU: when ur out of state... hold CT DOWN... dont be ashamed of being from Connecticut or act like ur from somewhere else... even though its "nothing worth repping" its where ur from, its where ur home is, like it or not... and one day soon.. it will be WELL WORTH REPPING...TRUST
WE NEED OUT OWN SOUND, OUR OWN STYLE, AND OUR OWN MOVEMENT...
....and i know hardly anyone will actually READ this completely.... but for those who do.. spread the word... we gotta be in this together! I support anybody doing anything out of Connecticut, wack or not cuz point blank.. they're from where im from... and thats enough for me... and i hope we can all adapt this idea one day....
MUCH SUCCESS TO YOU, EVEN IF YOU WISH ME THE OPPOSITE

I already have had too many discussions on this subject. Only thing left to do is well make good music....
I like this and I agree with every word
I def like this although I'm one of those people that don't really like listening to new artists....but then again half of the new artists out here are talkin about the same garbage gucci man and other wack artists talk about....its refreshing to hear local artists that are talking about something different in their music
